Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Mana Earth Media ("we," "us") collects through Mischief Dating, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect what you give us to run your profile and help you meet people, we never show your exact location, we don't sell your personal information, and you can download or delete your information at any time.
1. Information you give us
- Account: email, password (kept only as a secure hash), full name, username, date of birth. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they share your name and email with us (Apple lets you hide your email).
- Dating profile: photos and short videos, bio, prompts, voice intro, gender, who you're interested in, what you're looking for, interests, music, a date spot you suggest, your city and general area, and your distance setting.
- Sensitive information: your gender, who you're interested in and what you're looking for can reveal your sexual orientation or sex life. We use it only to show you to the right people and show the right people to you, never for advertising.
- What you post and send: posts, stories, photos, videos, voice posts, captions, places you tag, comments, messages, voice notes, voice likes, replies and reactions.
- Verification: if you choose to verify, a selfie that is compared with your profile photos. It is used only for that check and isn't shown on your profile.
- Reports and support requests, including any messages or content you choose to include.
2. Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device model, operating system, app version, language and IP address.
- Activity: who you like, pass, send a Shooting Star to, match with, block or report; and features you use.
- Camera, microphone and photo library: used only when you take, record or pick something to share, record a voice note, make a call, or save a photo or video to your phone. You can turn these off in your phone's settings.
- Notifications: if you allow them, an address for your phone (a push token) so we can tell you about likes, matches, messages and calls.
- Contacts: only when you invite a friend by text. You pick one contact, and their number goes to your Messages app, not to us. We never upload your contacts.
- Date plans: if you use Date safety, who you're meeting, where and when are kept on your phone. You choose whether to send them to a friend.
- Screenshots: in chats, on profiles and in Nearby, the app can tell that a screenshot was taken and may tell the other person. On Android, screenshots there are blocked.
3. Location
Location is optional, and you can turn it off in your phone's settings at any time.
- Your city and distance: if you allow it, we use your location to pick your closest city and to show people within the distance you choose. Others see only a rough distance. Your exact location is not shown.
- Stories and posts: a place appears only if you tag one, never your exact spot.
- Weather and stamp stickers: your location is used to find your town for the sticker.
- Town names: to turn a location into a town or neighborhood name, your phone uses its own map service (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android).
4. Information from others
- Other members: likes, Shooting Stars, replies, reactions, and reports about you.
5. How messages and media are handled
- Messages, voice notes and calls are private to you and the people you message. They are encrypted on the way between your phone and our servers and stored securely. Our team doesn't look at them, except when you report a message (you choose what to send us) or the law requires it. We don't record calls.
- Voice notes disappear 24 hours after they're played, or 7 days after they're sent if nobody plays them, unless someone keeps one after playing it.
- Posts on the dating feed are visible to other members and are stored so others can see them, and for moderation.
- Photos and videos are checked automatically for nudity when you upload them. In public places, flagged ones are blocked. In one-to-one chats they're sent as private photos and videos: blurred, opened only with a tap, and only once. Once a private photo or video has been opened, we delete it, so it's gone for both of you.
6. How we use information
- To run Mischief Dating: your account and profile, Nearby, likes and matches, chats, the feed, stories, and suggestions for people you may like.
- For safety: confirm ages, prevent fraud, spam and abuse, check images, filter profanity in public areas, review reports and enforce our rules. Automated tools help sort reports, but they never give a strike or a ban on their own; a person decides.
- To keep banned people out: if you are banned, we keep your email address so you can't sign up again.
- To improve the app: fix problems and understand which features are used.
- To contact you about your account, matches, messages, safety and changes to these documents.
- To comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
7. Who can see what
- Your dating profile (name, age, photos, videos, prompts, voice intro, interests, music, what you're looking for, area and rough distance): other members who are shown you in Nearby and Likes, except people you've blocked. Pausing your profile hides you.
- Your age: shown as an age, never your birthday.
- Stories: everyone in your city or friends only, as you choose, for 24 hours.
- Your Moments: public to anyone who views your profile, unless you make them private; private Moments are seen only by your friends and matches.
- Posts on the dating feed: other members.
- Messages: only you and the people you message.
8. How we share information
- Service providers that work for us under contract: Supabase (hosting, database, sign-in and file storage), LiveKit (voice and video calls), Expo (push notifications), Google Cloud Vision (checks photos, and two still frames from each video, for nudity) and our email provider.
- Features that use outside services: GIF search sends your search words to GIPHY; place search sends what you type to a place-search provider; the weather sticker sends a location to a weather service. These requests are not tied to your name.
- Legal and safety: to comply with the law or valid legal process, to protect someone's safety, to investigate fraud or abuse, and to enforce our Terms. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as the law requires.
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, under this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
9. How long we keep it
- Stories: 24 hours, unless you add them to your Moments.
- Voice notes: 24 hours after they're played, or 7 days after they're sent if never played, unless kept.
- Private (view-once) photos and videos in chats: deleted once they've been opened.
- Profile photos, videos, text and voice, and your Moments: until you remove them or delete your account.
- Account information: while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, apart from the limited records we must keep for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, a record of a serious violation so a banned person can't return). Backups roll off within 90 days.
10. Your choices and rights
- See, correct or delete your information in Profile, or contact us for a copy.
- Delete your account in Profile → Settings → Account & safety → Delete account.
- Pause your profile at any time in Settings.
- Control who sees each story and Moment, whether messages in a chat are kept, and who you block.
- Turn off location, camera, microphone, photos and notifications in your phone's settings.
To make a request, email support@mischiefdating.com. We'll confirm it's you before we act, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights.
11. California and other US states
If you live in California, or in another state with a privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
We collect the categories described in Sections 1 to 4: identifiers, profile and demographic information, photos, audio and video, approximate location, app activity, and sensitive information you choose to give for dating. We use them for the purposes in Section 6 and disclose them only as described in Section 8. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we use sensitive information only to provide the features you asked for.
12. Outside the United States
Mischief Dating is run from the United States, and your information is processed there. If you use Mischief Dating from Europe, the United Kingdom or elsewhere, we rely on your contract with us, your consent (for example for location and dating details), our legitimate interest in keeping the Service safe, and legal obligations. You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, to take it with you, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
13. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and staff access limited to what a job requires. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
14. Age limit
Mischief Dating is only for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
15. Changes
We'll post updates here with a new date, and tell you in the app or by email about changes that matter before they take effect.
